Hahnium was discovered in 1968 by a team led by Georgy Flerov at Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. An artificial radioactive isotope of the metallic element Cesium, Hahnium is used rarely in radiotherapy. Provisionally, Hafnium was known as Unnilpentium. Hahnium was renamed Dubnium (Db) by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
