Semi-Metals
The metalloids, or semimetals, are found along the division line between the metals and
nonmetals in the Periodic Table. These elements have both metallic and nonmetallic properties;
for example, the metalloids are dull like nonmetals, but they can conduct electricity like metals.
In industry, silicon and germanium are used as semiconductors. Arsenic is a toxic element found
in rat poison.
