Lutetium was discovered by Urbain in 1907. Lutetium is the most expensive element of the
lanthanide series. The high cost of this element has limited its commercial use. Small amounts of
lutetium can be found in all minerals containing yttrium, especially in monazite. It is named after
"Lutetia", the ancient name of Paris, France.
