Ballard discovered Bromine in 1826. Bromine is the only liquid nonmetallic Element. It is a heavy, brownish-red liquid that evaporates at room temperature with a strong odour. Bromine is very reactive with many Elements, and poses a health risk to humans. It is used in making fumigants, flameproofing agents, and dyes.
