Swamp Horsetail
Swamp Horsetail Equisetum fluviatile grows in ponds or slow-moving
waters. Its smooth, hollow, jointed stems may or may not have branches. The
sheaths (skirt-like coverings) at each joint are closely clasped to the
stem and are topped with sharply pointed dark-coloured teeth. In this
picture, fine unbranched stems can be seen growing in shallow water.
