Field Horsetail
Field Horsetail Equisetum arvense is a common weed found in waste
places. In the spring you may see its pinkish-brown fertile shoots topped
with spore-bearing cones growing in the sandy soil beside a railway line.
Green stems with whorls of thin branches develop later.
