Monterey Cypress
Monterey Cypress Cupressus macrocarpa like many other members of the
Cypress family has scale-like leaves that are pressed close to the stem. It
is a large tree that is sometimes twisted into fantastic shapes because of
the effect of wind on its growth. The name macrocarpa meaning "large
fruit" refers to the cones which are bigger than those of other cypresses.
This species grows on the west coast of California in the region of
Monterey.
