Ground Hemlock
Ground Hemlock Taxus canadensis is a low-growing spreading shrub
which may be found in damp shaded places. It has dark-green flattened
needles with pointed tips that are arranged in flat sprays. Male plants
form tiny pollen-filled cones in the spring and the female plant produces
single seeds in fleshy red "arils" each looking like a little red berry
with a hole at its free end.
