Black Spruce
Black Spruce Picea mariana can grow in a wide range of soils and
thrives even in boggy areas where few other trees can grow. It has droopy
branches and the lower ones touching the ground can sprout roots and produce
new trees. Its wood is used as pulp for paper-making. Like the other
spruces Black Spruce has short leaves that leave a little peg when they
come off the twig.
