Ginger
Ginger Zingiber officinale comes from South-East
Asia. It is valued for its swollen underground stems or
rhizomes that have a spicy flavour. The plant which
grows to a height of about a metre has long smooth
leaves and several white flowers streaked with purple.
The spice derived from the ginger plant is used widely
in foods and drinks and also in medicines.
