Cattail and Bur-reed flower clusters The two families that make up Order Typhales are the Cattail Family (Typhaceae) and the Bur-reed Family (Sparganiaceae). These plants have very small male and female flowers that are grouped into clusters. Each tiny female flower has just one ovule in its ovary. This picture shows a cattail with fruits formed from sausage-shaped flower clusters, and a bur-reed with spherical flower clusters. [CH] {EN}
