Common Cattail plant and flowering head Common Cat-tail Typha latifolia is a marsh plant. It grows to a height of 2 to 3 metres and spreads rapidly by underground creeping stems. Flowers are produced in thick spikes with male flowers on top and female flowers lower down. The spikes turn velvety brown, eventually bursting to release the fluffy seeds which are dispersed by the wind. [CH] {GW}
