Order Najadales

Order Najadales is made up of ten families including the Water Nymph Family (Najadaceae), the Arrow Grass Family (Juncaginaceae), the Pondweed Family (Potamogetonaceae) and Horned Pondweed (Zanichelliaceae). These are wetland and water plants which probably developed from Dicotyledon ancestors something like modern-day Water Lilies. Najadales may represent an intermediate step between Dicotyledons and the more highly evolved Monocotyledons. [CH] {EN}
