Indian Cucumber-root with single flower Indian Cucumber-root Medeola virginiana is a spring flower of North America's eastern woods. The slender stem has leaves arranged in two distinct whorls and the yellowish flowers dangle from its tip. At the end of the flowering season dark purple berries form as fruits. The underground part of the plant is a white tuber which can be eaten and it is said to taste like cucumber. [CH] {GW}
