Yucca

Yucca Yucca filamentosa has a large tuft of stiff spiky leaves and a tall woody flowering stalk with many whitish bell-shaped flowers. It grows in dry soil and on sand dunes and the plant has mechanisms to conserve precious water. Spanish Bayonet, Adam's Needle and Joshua tree are all species of Yucca. Some Yuccas provide a source of fibres for making ropes. [CH] {FW}
