Grasses
Flowering heads of grasses have specialised leaves or
bracts and instead of the sepals and petals of a typical
flower they have tiny scales or lodicules at one side
of the ovary. It is the arrangement and structure of the
flower parts that indicate how different grass species
are related to one another. In most grasses each small
flower has three stamens and two feathery styles attached
to the ovary.
