Corn
Corn Zea mays is a large North American grass which has
been cultivated for over 3000 years. The wild plant was
probably growing in America 7000 years ago. Corn stems are
solid unlike the hollow stems of most grasses. Many
different varieties have been developed and hybrids
between strains produce strong plants that that can be
tailored to flourish in different conditions. A variety with
small hard kernels can be heated until the water inside
expands and makes the kernels explode into popcorn. MORE!
