Windmill Palm
Windmill or Chusan Palm Trachycarpus fortunei is quite resistant to cold
unlike most palms. The remains of old leaves cover the stem which has a
shaggy look. The leaf has a long stalk and a more or less circular blade
that is divided into long pointed segments. Small flowers grow in clusters
and the fruits are bluish and furrowed. The generic name comes from the
Greek words "trachys" meaning "rough" and "karpos" meaning "fruit".
