HELP INDEX NEXT UP PREVIOUS FEEDBACK ATG Family Lemnaceae

DUCKWEED ON POND The Duckweed Family (Lemnaceae) has the smallest known flowering plants. They are free-floating or submerged water plants that spread mostly by vegetative means. Flowers are rare and very much reduced, having no sepals or petals but just one or two stamens in the male flower and a single pistil in the female flower. The duckweeds (Lemna) have short roots dangling in the water and the watermeals (Wolffia) have no roots. [CH] {EN}
