Flowers and fruits of Jack-in-the-pulpit Jack-in-the-pulpit Arisaema atrorubens is a plant of moist ground and bogs. The flowering head reminds one of a preacher standing in a canopied pulpit. The "preacher" is a club-shaped stalk (spadix) which has tiny male or female flowers and the "pulpit" is a large leaf (spathe) that curves over the spadix. The spathe is green or purplish-brown and the fruits are red berries. [CH] {GW}
