Class Angiospermae
The first flowering plants (Angiosperms) appeared
about 135 million years ago which makes them the
newcomers of the plant world. Most of the plants we
see around us belong to this enormous group. There are
more than 230,000 species and they grow just about
everywhere in the world. We depend on flowering plants
for almost all our food. The grains we use to make bread,
the vegetables and fruits we eat and the fodder needed to feed
our meat animals all come from flowering plants.
