Order Violales

Open seed pod of Violet There is a great variety of plants in the large Order Violales. Leaves of most species have veins that spread out from one point (palmate venation) rather than branching off a central vein. Usually the female part of the flower is divided into three sections (carpels). Here you see the fruit of a Violet showing the three parts opened up to release the seeds. [CH] {EN}
