Common Blue Violet
Common Blue Violet Viola papilionacea is one of
many species of blue violets. It has heart-shaped leaves
and violet-blue flowers with bearded side petals. These
lateral petals and the larger lower petal are strongly
veined. Flowers and leaves grow on separate stalks which
are all about the same height. This violet grows in moist
fields and damp woods.
