Stem tip of Phlox Phlox Phlox paniculata is a common garden plant that has escaped to flourish in the wild. The flowers are formed of five flat petals that are joined at the base into a narrow tube that hides the stamens and pistil. Each flower has five stamens and the style is divided into three prongs.
