Dodder
Dodder Cuscuta gronovii is a parasitic plant that
gets its food from
other plants which it twines around in a mass of
tangled stems. There are
several different species of Dodder and this is the
commonest one in eastern
North America. As this plant does not make its own
food, it does not have
the green pigment chlorophyll and the stems are a
yellow-orange colour with
no leaves. The flowers are small white and waxy.
