Squawroot
Squawroot Conopholis americana is a low fleshy plant
with scale-like leaves and no chlorophyll. It lives as a
parasite on the roots of trees such as the oak. Its
yellow-brown flowering stalks look a bit like fleshy
pinecones emerging from the forest floor.
