Penstemon
Penstemon Penstemon gloxinioides has
trumpet-shaped flowers with the mouth of the trumpet
flaring out into an upper lip of two petals and a lower lip
of three petals as in other members of its family. The
name comes from the words for five "pente" and
stamens "stemon" but only four of the five produce
pollen. The single sterile stamen is about the same
length as the others and is usually yellow-bearded near
its tip.
