Small flowering head of Common Mullein Mulleins (Verbascum) are hardy biennial or perennial plants. Some species, such as Common Mullein Verbascum thapsus, grow to a height of 2 metres. Flowering stems grow up from a basal rosette of thick hairy leaves and the five-petalled flowers are more regular in shape than the typical flower of this family. Common Mullein has an unbranched flowering stalk, large flannel-textured leaves and yellow flowers. [CH] {GW}
