Horse Chestnut
Horse Chestnut Aesculus hippocastanum is an Eurasian species which
is often grown as an ornamental tree because of its attractive shape and
beautiful flowers which look like large white candles on its branches. The
round, spiny fruits contain one or two large, shiny, red-brown seeds that
English children like to use to play "conkers". The aim of the game is to
break your opponent's conker which dangles on a string, by swinging your
own tougher conker at it.
