BLACKBERRY FLOWERS AND FRUITS Bramble or Blackberry Rubus includes a number of species that are quite difficult to tell apart. They are woody prickly plants that are closely related to raspberries, thimbleberries, cloudberries and dewberries. The genus Rubus has more than 400 species mostly found in northern temperate regions. Ripe fruits of the bramble are black and made up of a collection of little juicy sacs, each containing a seed.
