HELP INDEX NEXT UP PREVIOUS FEEDBACK ATG Family Ranunculaceae

SINGLE BUTTERCUP FLOWER The Buttercup Family has hundreds of species growing in temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. Many have lobed or divided leaves. The flowers have petals that are not joined to each other and a large number of stamens. Some lack petals and have coloured sepals instead. Plants in this family produce substances that are toxic to cattle which tend to avoid buttercups when they are grazing. These chemicals do not survive drying so hay containing buttercups presents no problems. [CH] {FW}
