Thrift
Thrift or Sea Pink Armeria maritima grows along sea
coasts in Europe and on mountains inland. It forms
compact tufts of long narrow leaves and its pink or white
flowers are clustered in rounded heads. Its picture was
on the reverse side of the old English threepenny bit,
perhaps to encourage thrift.
