Bullhead Lily
Bullhead-lily Nuphar variegatum is a yellow water-lily and the yellow
part is made up of the flower's sepals; the petals are small and hidden. The
top of the pistil (stigma) is round and flat and can be seen in the centre of
the flower. If you are canoeing in North American lake country and you see
water-lily leaves but no flowers, you can distinguish the white from the
yellow water-lily by the shape of the leaves. White water-lilies have round
leaves and Bullhead-lilies have more oval-shaped leaves.
