Amazonian Water-lily
Amazonian Water-lily Victoria amazonica or V. regia which grows in
Brazil is an enormous water-lily that has leaves nearly two metres across.
The leaf is heavily-veined and its edge turns up to form a rim. The flowers
are white when they first open in the early evening and within two days they
have changed to pink or red. The fruit is a large berry. There are two
species of Victoria and they are indeed the giants of the water-lily
family.
