Fireweed
Fireweed, Great Willow-herb Epilobium angustifolium can be more than
two metres tall and gets its name from the fact that it often grows in
areas that have been damaged by fire. Its long pointed simple leaves are
arranged alternately up the stem and the flowers form a spike on the top.
Each flower has four pink petals and eight stamens. The fruits are long
seed pods that point upwards.
