Sweet Fern
Sweet Fern Myrica asplenifolia is a small woody shrub with lobed
leaves that smell sweet when crushed. The leaf lobes look a bit fern-like
which gives this flowering plant its common name. The flowers are of one
sex only. Male flowers are in catkins and female flowers form spiky-looking
clusters. Sweet Fern grows under trees on dry soil.
