FLOWER OF WILD FLAX There are five families in Order Linales, including the Flax Family (Linaceae) and the Coca Family (Erythroxylaceae). Coca is a Peruvian shrub that yields the narcotic cocaine. Flowers in Order Linales are mostly regular (radially symmetrical) and the stamens are often joined by their stalks. Flax Linum usitatissimum is grown commercially for fibres to make linen and linseed which yields oil. [CH] {EN}
