Leaves of American Sassafras American Sassafras Sassafras albidum grows in eastern North America as a deciduous bush or tree. It bears groups of yellow flowers which form blue fruits on red stalks. Like other members of the Laurel Family, Sassafras produces an aromatic oil that is used as a perfume and a flavouring substance. The outer covering of the roots is used to prepare these oils and also medicines. [CH] {FW}
