London Plane

The leaf of the London Plane Platanus acerifolia is very much like the maple leaf. London Plane is a hybrid between American Sycamore and another species of Platanus Platanus orientalis. Male and female flowers grow in separate clusters on the same tree and the fruits are compacted into little balls which hang on long stems. [CH] {NT}
