Periwinkle Vinca minor spreads readily and is used in gardens as an attractive ground cover. It has trailing stems with shiny evergreen leaves arranged in pairs. The flowers have five purple-blue petals that are not quite symmetrical giving the bloom a pinwheel effect. Plants of the Dogbane Family (Apocynaceae) have a milky sap like the milkweeds. [CH] {GW}
