Shinleaf
Shinleaf Pyrola elliptica is the commonest member of the Wintergreen
Family found in the woods of northern parts of North America. It is a small
plant which has three to seven fairly large rounded leaves growing from the
base of the flowering stem. Nodding flowers on little reddish stalks grow
from the stem and they have five white petals with green veining. The syle
and stigma of the female part of the flower hangs lower than the petals.
