Sorry, No Picture! Slender Glasswort Salicornia europaea is a plant of the sea coast and grows in salty marshes. It has no leaves but just juicy jointed stems. These are green in the growing season and they turn red in the fall and they can be eaten like asparagus. Glassworts are so called because the plants were once burned to make an ash (barilla) that was used in glass-making. [CH] {FW}
