Carolina Spring Beauty
Carolina Spring Beauty Claytonia caroliniana is one of the first
flowers to appear in northern deciduous woods in the spring. It has white
or pink flowers with darker pink veins. Each plant has two leaves that are
wider than the long thin leaves of the similar species Claytonia
virginica.
