FISHHOOK CACTUS Fishhook Cactus Mammillaria vaupellii is what is known as a pincushion cactus. It forms little round knobs only a few centimetres across which are covered in light-coloured spines. In some species of Mammillaria the spines are curved like fishhooks. These little cacti grow under bushes or amongst the rocks on high ridges. The flowers are pinkish and grow in a circle like a crown on the pincushion. [CH] {CA}
