Cactus Tribes
There are about 1700 species of cactus and they are
grouped into three main tribes, the Pereskieae which
includes woody trees bushes and vines and probably
represents an intermediate stage in cactus evolution,
the Opuntieae which have tiny hair-like bristles called
glochids and the Cereae or Cacteae to which the
tree-sized Saguaro belongs.
