Watercress
Watercress Nasturtium officinale has
pungent-tasting leaves that are good
to eat as a salad vegetable. The plant grows in
running water and has
floating or creeping stems. The leaf is divided
into 3 to 9 oval leaflets
and small white flowers grow in clusters at the tips
of stems. Each flower
has four petals, which is a characteristic of the
Mustard Family. The
fruits are long thin seedpods.
