Caper
Caper Capparis spinosa is a spiny shrub about a
metre in height which grows in Sicily and the surrounding
Mediterranean region. It has round leaves and white
flowers with four petals that are narrowed at the base.
The stamens are very long and stick right out of the
flower. Unopened flower buds have a pungent taste and
are pickled in vinegar to be served as capers with
meats or in sauces.
