Black Mustard
Black Mustard Brassica nigra is commonly found growing in fields and
waste places. It is a rough bristly plant with lobed lower leaves and
simple toothed upper leaves. The flowers have four yellow petals and the
fruits are upright pods that hug the stem. The dark brown seeds are crushed
and powdered to make mustard which is used to add spice to meats.
