Natal Ivy Senecio macroglossus has relatively few ray florets surrounding the small yellow disc florets. Seeds in plants of this genus have greyish tufts of fluff to aid in wind dispersal and this is the origin of the name Senecio as "senex" is the Latin word for "old man". The fluffy outgrowth on a seed is called a pappus. [CH] {OX}
