Ox-eye
Ox-eye Heliopsis helianthoides grows wild in open
woodlands and by streams and has varieties that have
been developed for gardens. Its stems are smooth and
the leaves grow in pairs. In this species seeds develop
in both the centre florets and the rayflorets, which is not
the case in the true sunflowers.
